Is LUW The Right Chiropractic Clinic For You?
There are over 100 documented techniques of chiropractic so it's no wonder why people want to do a little leg work before they commit to an office. We want you to know our approach before you make an appointment. In descending order these are where our doctors are strongest:
1. Posture - ur doctors have done hundreds of extra hours of Clinical Biomechanics of Posture training. This technique utilizes chiropractic adjustments, case specific stretches and exercises, and case specific mechanical traction designed to restore posture to critical values. Just as researchers have determined optimal blood pressure, body fat and blood glucose so have researchers determined optimal posture. Much research has been done to determine what is "normal" for the spine. We get you back "in that zone." If you believe that your back pain, neck pain or headaches are from postural distortions secondary to old injuries and/or too much sitting, then you will be very satisfied with our care.
2. Pregnancy - Both doctors are certified in the Webster Technique which is a pregnancy specific technique for balancing the pelvis so that there is as little stress to the uterus and/or pelvis as possible. This allows for less discomfort during the stressful changes of pregnancy and allows for a more comfortable delivery.
3. Wellness - Our philosophy is to empower people to "Eat Well, Move Well, Think Well." And it is present in everything that we do.
Both of the doctors have done advanced training in mechanically assisted chiropractic care so if you are uncomfortable with the noise or feeling of conventional chiropractic adjustments we can accommodate that with mechanically assisted chiropractic care (i.e. NO POPPING!).

"I'm Not Sure If I Should See A Chiropractor Because ..."
". . . once you start you have to keep going forever." We have redirected many patients. People who are not good candidates for our specific kind of care are immediately referred to a more appropriate provider (luckily, that is often within this office - we have an integrated approach and have massage therapists, an acupuncturist and a clinical nutritionist onsite.) When patients reach normal posture, have no complaints or have gotten as close to normal as possible they are released from corrective care. It's that simple.
". . . I think it's just a muscle problem." If you think it's just a muscle, get your structure checked anyway. If your "muscle" problem has lasted longer than 4-6 weeks then it's quite possible there are other components involved. Muscles have great blood supply and usually heal quickly and nicely, if your problem has nagged for a bit then get it checked. If it is just a muscle problem then we have great advice for stretches and exercises and we have terrific massage therapists on staff.
" . . . I'm worried about being hurt by an adjustment." Hurting patients is really bad for business. And, chiropractic adjustments can seem quite dramatic to someone who has not experienced them, but the reality is that chiropractic care is amongst the safest of all the health care professions. The ultimate gold standard is malpractice insurance. The actuaries know where money is being paid out. A typical chiropractor will pay less than $2000/year for millions of dollars of coverage. That means that most people's car insurance cost more than our malpractice. Our doctors are trained to provide effective AND gentle care. We cater to wimps!
" . . . I'm not sure if insurance will cover it." We do not want you to prioritize your finances over you health. Our initial consultation is done at no charge to you. We are preferred providers for almost every major insurance company (besides GroupHealth L) and while coverage has become less and less every year usually they will provide some initial benefit. Come in and bring your information and we will call you insurance company and ask ALL the right questions (deductible, co-insurance, co-pays, etc.) for you and figure out exactly what they will cover before we incur any costs.

What To Expect On Your First Chiropractic Visit
When you first walk into Lake Union Wellness you will be greeted with a smile. Our friendly staff with acquire a copy of your insurance card, if you have one, so we can verify with your insurance company what services they will cover. There is some paperwork that you will be asked to complete. You can download it to fill out in advance if you choose. Just click the link below, print it, fill it out and bring it with you when you come to the clinic.
Then the doctor and you will go over your health history and any complaints you may have. The doctor will then administer a complete chiropractic exam complete with spinal x-rays. These x-rays they will thoroughly evaluate, and go over with you on your second visit. You will then schedule a second appointment where you and the doctor will review your x-rays and talk about treatment options. The doctor will address any questions or concerns you have regarding your needs.
